Nigeria: CKay shares new project, announces global tour
13 Jun 2025 - 07:57
Nigerian Afrobeats artist CKay has unveiled his latest six-track EP titled CKay The Second, which is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms.
The project, described as CKay’s most refined and intentional release to date, is designed not only to deepen his connection with his loyal fanbase but also to resonate with new audiences worldwide.
The release comes as CKay prepares for his highly anticipated Summer 2025 international tour, which will see him perform across key global markets. The tour seeks to bring his unique brand of Afrobeats to a broader audience and marks his evolution from viral hitmaker to fully-fledged global artist.
Since his breakout in 2021, CKay has emerged as a leading figure in Afrobeats, blending authentic African sounds with international appeal. His hit single ‘Love Nwantiti’ became a viral sensation on TikTok, finishing as the most-used song on the platform in 2021. The track amassed over two billion streams and became the first-ever No. 1 on the now-defunct Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart. It also reached number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned multi-platinum certifications in more than 20 countries.
Following the success of ‘Love Nwantiti’, CKay released his debut album Sad Romance in 2022, and followed up with EMOTIONS in 2024. The sophomore album saw him delve further into themes of love and introspection, reinforcing his status as one of the genre’s most distinctive voices. His impact was further recognised at the end of 2024 when the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) named him the best-selling Nigerian artist of the year.
