Nigeria: Cobhams Asuquo kicks off album tour this weekend

The Kick-Off Tour concert will open his album tour, which starts in April and ends in June. Thereafter, he will proceed to North America, the UK and Europe for the international leg of the tour.

For You is the debut album of the singer-songwriter and producer who set up his own recording facility in 2006. He has since written and produced award-winning songs for Asa, Banky W and Omawumi, among others.

Asuquo featured on songs by other artists since ‘Lagimo’ by RoofTop MCs in 2008, but started to release singles of his own officially with ‘Ordinary People’ in 2014. He released two singles last year: 'Boosit’ featuring Falz and 'Empty'.

“Five years ago I wrote a song that began an incredible journey towards something much bigger than me," Asuquo wrote at the release of his debut album. "Today, it is with such a depth of joy and gratitude that I present to you the product of that journey.”

His songs are "mostly in the Christian key," according to Oris Aigbokhaevbolo in a review of 'Empty' on this website. "Broadly, he is interested in what it is to be human – to be human in relation to other humans, that is."

Sunday's Kick-Off Tour will be held at the Pistis Conference Center, Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos at 7pm. Tickets cost 10 000 naira ($26)
