Nigeria: Mavin Records secures deal with SyncFloor

According Music Business Worldwide, the agreement intends to “bring the label’s catalogue to more potential synch buyers via the newly launched Mavin Records SyncSite.”

The partnership arrives a few months after the Don Jazzy-led label secured another high-profile partnership with Kupanda Holdings, a joint venture between Kupanda Capital and TPG Growth.

“SyncFloor’s ground-breaking service promises immense access, making them fitting partners to expand our dealings in commercial music licensing,” Mavin Records chief operating officer Tega Oghenejobo said.

“Over time, Afrobeats and African culture, in general, have converted audiences across the globe with massive moments. We’re glad to offer our vast catalogue to brands and platforms looking to tell global stories in film and digital content.”

On his part, SyncFloor CEO Kirt Debique emphasised what a “powerhouse” Mavin had proven to be over the years for African talent within the Afropop genre, which is currently enjoying ground-breaking global recognition.

“We are honoured to get their beautiful music in front of production professionals worldwide,” he said.

SyncFloor was co-founded by Debique and intellectual property attorney Cestjon McFarland. The company recently rolled our SongsForPodcasters, which is a sister site to SyncFloor’s commercial marketplace.

Mavin Records was established in May 2012. The stable is home to the likes of Rema, Korede Bello, Dr SID, D'Prince, Johnny Drille, and Ladipoe. Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Reekado Banks and Iyanya are among its alumni.
