Nigeria: Pheelz’s Electricity single featuring Davido out

The single, released via DC/Warner Records, follows Pheelz’s recent viral hit “Finesse” featuring Bnxn, which peaked at No.1 on the global Shazam charts in March.

‘Electricity’ is described by its author as “a high-voltage collab buzzing with positive vibes”, and listens as a dance-ready fusion of Afrobeats and amapiano. A highly polished attendant video for the song was directed by TG Omori.

Before launching his career as a solo artist, Pheelz accrued resounding acclaim as a producer, regularly collaborating with Afrobeats stars including Olamide and Fireboy DML.

Pheelz, who released his debut EP Hear Me Out last year, cites ID Cabasa, Don Jazzy, Timberland, Pharrell, Yanni, Kenny G and Kanye West among his technical models.

Speaking to Culture Custodian about the West African country’s recent global pop renaissance, Pheelz said: “Nigerian music right now is a blessing.”

He added: “We’ve been ready for all these doors that are opening now. A storm is coming because there are kids over here that are on the streets who are super talented. The streets are filled with talent, art, and creativity. Now that opportunities are opening in the world, it’s a storm!”
