Nigeria: Suté Iwar and WurlD join forces on Judah Lion
04 Nov 2022 - 12:20
Nigerian singer and producer Suté Iwar today released his new single titled ‘Judah Lion’. The R&B record, which guests WurlD, is available for streaming and download on all major streaming platforms.
‘Judah Lion’ follows Suté Iwar’s recent single ‘Pulp Fiction’, which arrived a month ago. It also heralds a new album due early next year.
‘Judah Lion’ listens as an ethereal homage to a love interest and an exclamation of wonder at her beauty. It is ensconced in bitter-sweet emotion and laden with reverb and cavernous polymelodies.
An Abuja-based Afro-fusion virtuoso, Suté Iwar’s interest in music and performing began at the age of seven, when his father enrolled him for piano lessons at the MUSON Centre in Lagos. Since then, he has not looked back, publishing his first mixtape Jelí, in 2014. His second mixtape, titled Visions, was released in 2015 and included the sleeper hit ‘Mainland Cruise’.
Suté Iwar’s debut album, Paradise, arrived in August 2019. It was followed up with the Colors EP in September 2020. In June 2021, he released his second album, 199X.
Ultralight, his upcoming album, features a technically adept line-up from West African and British talent, including the likes of Tim Lyre, Lex Amor, Kadiata, Raytheboffin, Tay Iwar, and Twelve XII.
