Nigerian stars to headline AfricaOne in Johannesburg

Ellis Park Indoor Arena in Doornfontein will rock to the sounds of award-winning Nigerian RnB duo P-Square, made up of identical twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, who are widely mooted as one of the hottest acts on the continent right now. Chart-topping Nigerian pop star Kiss Daniel is set to get the crowd grooving with his hit single ‘Woju’. Also on the bill are great African musical talents Edge, AB Crazy, DJ Capital and DJ Galid.

Meanwhile, acclaimed African fashion designers McMeka, Ituen Basi, Lanre da Silva and JZO will be showcasing some of their best work, and artwork from cryptic art collective Brilliant Brushes will be displayed throughout the venue.

AfricaOne is co-hosted by the African Film Academy (AFA), which organises the annual Africa Movie Academy Awards and aims to foster and promote African culture on the continent and across the world, as well as the NoBaga Foundation, which helps displaced Africans across the continent. All proceeds from the concert will go to the NoBaga Foundation.

According to the AFA’s Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, AfricaOne seeks to rewrite the African narrative and unite us as Africans. “As Africans, now more than ever, we must have our own voice in our story: the story of us, by us and for us. For this to come to fruition, it is crucial for Africans to come together,” she said.
