Nigerian pop act Omawumi is set to release a new album on 22 June.
Titled Timeless, the album comes four years after her second album, the well-received Lasso of Truth, which followed her 2009 debut album Wonder Woman.
Before the announcement, Omawumi, who came into prominence after she emerged as runner-up on a singing show, released the ballad ‘Butterflies’ and featured Beninese great Angelique Kidjo on ‘Play na Play’.
Speaking about the album, she said, “I played with different genres. I went to a place where time doesn't exist to make this music. I wasn't held back by any restriction of time or trend. I just did.”
Omawumi signed to new record label Cabal Entertainment in January, under which Timeless will be released in conjunction with Roc Nation Africa. On social media, Cabal Entertainment boss Obi Asika shared his enthusiasm about the album: “This incredible album from @omawonder [Omawumi’s Instagram handle] arrives this month,” he wrote. ”Excited for people to hear the music.”
