Open call: 2026 Festival Suíça Bahiana showcases in Brazil

The organisers of Festival Suíça Bahiana have opened applications for showcase performances at the 16th edition of the festival, scheduled to take place on 17 and 18 October 2026 in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil. The call is open to artists and musical groups from Brazil and abroad, subject to specific eligibility criteria.

Eligibility
- Open to solo artists or groups with original projects
- Eligible genres include instrumental music, song-writing and DJ performances
- Open to applicants from all regions of Brazil and other countries
- Each project must include at least one female member
About the showcases
Each selected act will present a 30-minute live performance. Showcases form part of the official Festival Suíça Bahiana programme. Performances are intended to introduce artists to audiences in Bahia, as well as to other artists, festival and venue programmers, music industry professionals, and representatives of labels and companies. Performance dates will be assigned by the festival organisers; set times must be strictly observed
Selection process
- Selection will be conducted by a specialised curatorial team
- Criteria include originality, musical quality, performance, interpretation and the organisation of submitted materials
- Selected projects will be announced via the festival’s Instagram account and by email
Fees and support
- Each selected act will receive a fee of R$2 500 (about $470), payable within 45 days after the event
- The festival will provide stage infrastructure, sound and lighting, including a standard backline
- Accommodation with breakfast will be provided for selected artists travelling from other cities
- Travel and local transfer costs are not covered
Conditions of participation
- Selected artists must sign an image use release authorising the use of photos and videos for promotional purposes
- Projects must comply with copyright legislation and provide repertoire and authorship information
- The festival will handle payments to ECAD for public performance rights
- Artists must provide tax compliance documentation in line with Brazilian Federal Law 14.133/2021
- Submission implies acceptance of all terms and conditions outlined in the call
Additional provisions
- Selected artists and group members will receive free access to other festival activities
- Festival Suíça Bahiana’s communications team will promote selected projects across social media, the festival website and associated digital platforms
- Festival Suíça Bahiana is an official calendar event of Vitória da Conquista, established by municipal law in 2020, and has previously hosted artists including Emicida, Larissa Luz, Elomar, Black Pantera, Rachel Reis and Rubel.
- The 2026 edition is expected to attract an audience of approximately 3 000 people per day.
