Open call: Guinness Ghana DJ Awards 2024

Now in its 12th year and put together by Merqury Republic, the scheme aims to honour and recognise DJs for their impact on the Ghanaian music scene. The latest announcement follows the festival’s official launch on 20 July.

The Guinness Ghana DJ Awards process starts with submissions from DJs, music artists, industry professionals and fans, which the jury evaluates for eligibility and category placement. The nomination jury, consisting of experts in recording, production and disc jockeying, determines the finalists in each category and participates in the final voting process along with the Voting Academy and the general public.

The results are audited by a professional firm to ensure accuracy and fairness.

Eligibility

• Shows, performances or mixtapes must have been released from September 2023 to August 2024.
• The same submission cannot be sent for more than one category in the Industry section.
• Shows or performances must fit into the traditional genre in the section chosen
• Submitted Mixtapes must include full artwork and tracklisting.
• Artist DJ submissions are eligible to only one group of artists or entertainment companies.
• “Tribute” (aka “Best of”) mixtapes are NOT eligible for Mixtape of the Year.

How to enter

Interested Ghanaian DJs or their representatives can submit an entry form along with a mixtape or two-minute video clips of their performance(s) here.

Submissions must include:

• A professional photograph of the contesting DJ.
• A mixtape for consideration for nomination (specify music genre(s).
• A video for consideration for nomination.

The deadline for submissions is 20 August.

Disqualification

• Failure to follow submission guidelines.
• More than one submission by the same DJ in the same category.
• Submission received past specified deadline.
