Open call: The Music Imbizo 2026 speakers and panellists

The annual gathering brings together professionals from across the music and creative industries to engage in dialogue, knowledge exchange and critical reflection. The 2026 theme, Toward a Sacred Economy of Sound – Building the Systems for a Conscious Music Industry, focuses on the evolving relationship between creativity, technology and ethics in a rapidly digitising global music landscape.

Organisers say the programme will examine how artists and industry stakeholders can balance innovation with human values at a time when artificial intelligence, algorithms and automation increasingly shape music creation, distribution and consumption. The theme positions music as both a cultural practice and an economic system that requires thoughtful, responsible frameworks.

The open call invites trailblazers, thought leaders and practitioners to contribute through keynote talks, panel discussions, workshops and side sessions. Applicants may include artists, cultural practitioners, music entrepreneurs, legal professionals, technologists, researchers and other industry specialists with experience relevant to the theme.

Selected speakers are expected to present content that is original, factually accurate and legally compliant, with presenters responsible for securing permissions for any third-party intellectual property used during their sessions. By participating, speakers grant The Music Imbizo permission to use their names, likenesses and biographical information for promotional and marketing purposes across its platforms and partner media channels.

The Music Imbizo will not require prior approval of media content produced during the event, including recordings, interviews or photographs featuring speakers.
