The NewComma Creative Fund for African creators is inviting applications for its January 2024 cycle.
The NewComma Creative Fund is a monthly microgrant to support African creatives with no strings attached. To date, the organisation has granted over $5 000 to 22 recipients in various countries, including Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Angola, Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya and the United Kingdom.
To be eligible, an applicant must be a practising African/Black creative aged 18-35 years
How to Apply:
- The applicant should log in or sign up to NewComma, a social media platform tailored for African and Black creatives to showcase their work and explore job opportunities. A NewComma account is a prerequisite for applying to the #NCFund.
- Using the platform’s project builder, individuals are encouraged to build a portfolio on NewComma.
- Feature a minimum of three of the applicant’s finest projects, emphasising skills, experience, and creativity to stand out in the community.
- After completing the portfolio, applicants should navigate to the NewComma Jobs board.
- The applicant is required to fill out the online application form here to formally submit their entry for consideration in the #NCFund.
Applications close on 31 January.
Note:
- The judges will only consider applications with NewComma project links. The embed block can be used to add work from various platforms such as YouTube, Figma and Spotify to the NewComma project before submission.
- The quality of creative effort is highly valued and should be demonstrated by including fine details about the project and the process behind its creation in the submitted NewComma project.
- Applicants should also provide a detailed explanation about how the £100 microgrant will support their creative endeavours within their application.
- To increase the visibility of their work, individuals should promote their projects by sharing links to their NewComma projects with the hashtag #NCFund.
For additional information, individuals may send an email to hello@new-comma.com.
