Open call: Nigerian Idol Season 9

Running under the theme Dare To Dream, the Africa Magic TV-produced programme is open to young and undiscovered Nigerian musicians. Nigerian Idol Season 9 will run for 12 weeks, climaxing on 14 July.

Last year, the competition rewarded ultimate winner Victory Gbakara with a total grand prize worth ₦0 million (about $111 000), which included an N35 million cash prize, a car and a recording contract.

The deadline for submissions is 29 January.

Eligibility requirements

• Participants must be aged between 16 and 28 years.
• Only Nigerian citizens can apply.
• Applicants must live in Nigeria.
• Participants in previous seasons of Nigerian Idol are not eligible to apply.
• Applicants must have a Nigerian international passport or a national identity number (NIN).
• Have an active mobile phone number.
• Have an active email address where they can receive messages for the audition.
• Have a YouTube channel.

How to apply

Interested participants may record a 30-second clip of themselves singing any song of their choice and upload it to the competition website.
