Open call: Swift Academy seeks 25 emerging Kenyan music creatives
19 Aug 2026 - 14:35
The Martell Swift Academy has opened applications for its inaugural Kenyan cohort, offering emerging music creatives an opportunity to gain industry knowledge, mentorship and professional networks.
The call is specifically open to emerging artists based in Kenya.
Launched in August 2026, the pan-African programme is curated by Africa House and is scheduled to expand across the continent over the next 12 months. It aims to support up to 100 emerging creatives during its first year.
The Nairobi edition will select 25 emerging artists for a programme combining mentorship, workshops and practical creative development.
Participants will receive guidance from a group of music and creative industry professionals, including filmmaker and storyteller Michael Gachiri, music publicist and curator Anyiko Owoko, musician Bensoal, singer-songwriter and producer Njerae, and music journalist Joey Akan.
The programme will culminate in a three-week creative hub, where participants will apply the knowledge and skills gained during the mentorship and workshops. The practical phase will also include a music showcase featuring the participating artists.
According to the programme organisers, the initiative is intended to create greater access to industry expertise and professional networks for emerging creatives who may otherwise have limited opportunities to connect with established professionals.
