Horus Music Nigeria is part of Horus Music Limited, an international outfit founded in 2006 that allows artists, labels and rights holders to publish their music on about 200 download, streaming and interactive platforms. The company boasts direct partnerships with global digital service providers including Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify and Deezer.

The workshop, which will be hosted by Horus Music Nigeria director Abisoye Obayan, forms part of the company’s drive to assist artists with their music releases and to reach international audiences. It will explore how artists can achieve mainstream success while retaining their independent identity, with broadcaster Olisa Adibua featured as a guest panellist.

Adibua boasts more than 30 years of experience in TV, radio, film and live events, and will share his industry knowledge on a variety of topics druing the workshop. He is also a co-producer of the All Africa Music Awards and the co-founder of Storm Records and Broken Records.

Apart from navigating the industry as an independent artist, the digital music forum will focus on artist brand development.

“It is imperative to know that the efforts put into making a hit record can be invalidated without having a brand that is worth partnering or buying into by corporate establishments, that would, in turn, bring a return on investment for [an artist’s] music career,” Horus Music Nigeria said. “To avoid being a one-hit-wonder, which has been a common case in the music industry over the years, there is a need to understand how to grow a brand as an independent artist or label.”

Meanwhile, Horus Music Nigeria, in partnership with streaming service Audiomack, is currently touring local music studios, DJ sets, neighbourhood hangouts and community carnivals in search of upcoming Nigerian musicians looking for global reach.
