Register for WIPO webinar on copyright law

The one-hour webinar, which will be held by WIPO’s copyright law division, is free of charge and will be held in English. Participants will receive an overview of WIPO and its activities as an introduction to copyright law – covering books, music, paintings, sculpture, films, computer programmes, databases, advertisements, maps and technical drawings.

Some f areas of focus will include:

• What rights does copyright give?
• How can one obtain certified proof of existence for their creative work?

WIPO’s copyright law division functions as the secretariat for the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR). The division is responsible for supporting WIPO member states and SCCR members in work related to WIPO’s existing and proposed copyright and related rights treaties. It also provides legislative assistance on request to member states to develop national copyright and related rights laws and regulations.

Founded in 1967, WIPO is a self-funding agency under the UN. It is home to 193 member states and was established to lead the development of a balanced and effective international intellectual property system that enables innovation and creativity for the benefit of all. The organisation's director-general is Daren Tang who began his six-year term on 1 October 2020.
