Twenty DJs will now battle it out for the top prize in a competition organised by event management company M&K to identify and celebrate the best disc jockeys in the country and promote local music.
A panel of judges made of Rwanda’s top DJs – Pius, Sharif and Khadir – settled on 20 contestants from 49 in the male category. They will now proceed to the next round next week where they will be further whittled down to 10.
Those selected are DJs KayG, Selekta Danny, Araphat, Kiss, Khizz Beats, Mico, Selekta Gomez, Beast, Kavori, Joe the Drummer, Trapboy, Selekta Kuno, Snoop, Mikey, Mask, Kigali Beats, Sooky, Niyem, Pop, and Yan.
Only three contestants – DJ Roxy, DJ Brianne and DJ Ira – in the female category made it to the next stage.
On 20 August, a panel of judges made up of Nigeria’s DJ Neptune, DJ Khathu (South Africa, DJ Kadir (Uganda) and DJ Sharif (Rwanda) will choose the top five to progress to the finals.
The winners of the contest will be announced during the grand finale at Camp Kigali on 27 August.

The battle will be aired on RTV.
