The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

The 21-track album marks a significant milestone in Bruce Melodie’s career, further cementing his status as one of East Africa and Africa’s most influential artists. Colourful Generation is a masterful blend of Afro-pop, amapiano, and R&B, highlighting Bruce Melodie’s versatility. Notable collaborations include ‘When She’s Around (Funga Macho)’ featuring Shaggy, ‘Niki Minaji’, ‘Iyo Foto’, ‘Marijuana’ and ‘Diva’.

Ahead of the release, Bruce Melodie described the album as a tribute to the new generation, saying, “This album is for the new generation Gen Z, Gen Alpha. It shows that it’s okay to be seen as different. This album describes our struggles, our happiness, and our perspectives on various matters, while also embracing the stories and melodies in songs.”

The album’s lead single, ‘Beauty on Fire’, features Nigeria’s Afro-pop sensation Joeboy. Directed by Bahali Ruth and J. Chretien Munezero, the music video narrates the story of a lover’s unwavering dedication amidst challenges, highlighting the transformative power of love. The track’s infectious Afropop rhythms and heartfelt lyrics showcase Bruce Melodie’s talent for blending emotion and melody.

Bruce Melodie kicked-off a promotional tour for Colourful Generation in December 2024, headlining Kenya’s Raha Fest and hosting successful listening parties in Uganda and Rwanda. In 2025, he plans to connect with fans across Africa, further solidifying his influence on the global music scene.

“Our generation has become so diverse, those of us who are embracing the beauty of diversity, individuality, and inclusivity. Colourful Generation tells our stories, our joys, and our love. It’s a celebration of who we are as people and as Africans, and it shows that it’s okay to be different,” he added.

Born in Kigali, Rwanda, Bruce Melodie has established himself as one of East Africa’s most decorated artists. Known for hits like ‘Katerina’, ‘Bado’, and ‘Ikinya’, he has gained international recognition, including winning the 2023 Trace Awards’ Best East African Artist. His international collaboration with Shaggy, on ‘When She’s Around (Funga Macho)’, performed at the inaugural Trace Music Awards, captivated an audience of over 500 million viewers worldwide.
