SA: CAPASSO names 10 recipients of second CSI funding round
06 Oct 2026 - 18:30
The Composers, Authors and Publishers Association (CAPASSO) has selected 10 music creators and industry practitioners to receive funding through its second Corporate Social Investment (CSI) funding cycle for 2026/27.
Bheki Mlambo of Delight Productions Music Business Workshop is among the recipients.
The selected projects will be implemented across Gauteng, Western Cape, Limpopo, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal, with a focus on music rights education, skills development, entrepreneurship and community empowerment.
The CSI programme is organised around four areas: education, events, women in music and community-benefiting projects. The first funding cycle supported 10 projects in Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, including workshops, music festivals and community initiatives.
“We take immense pride in the achievements of our previous CSI partners, whose work laid a strong foundation for community growth,” CAPASSO CEO Jotam Matariro said. “As we expand into new regions this cycle, we look forward to deepening our engagement with members and empowering even more music creators across the country.”
The 10 recipients and their projects are:
- Bheki Mlambo – Delight Productions Music Business Workshop
- Busisiwe Nkomo – Faithful With Bucie – The Concert x CAPASSO
- Lwandile Nkanyuza – Someone's Gotta Do It (SGDI) Masterclass
- Minenhle Ngcobo – Music Masterclass
- Nozipho Ndunakazi – UMCULO – The Music Pro Workshop
- Nqubeko Mbatha – The United Tour – Gospel Concert
- Phontso Moono – Areyeng Gae Music Skills Development Workshop
- Sandiso Mbulelo – Rights and Rhymes Workshop
- Tebogo Rameetse – Rooted – Music Rights & Creative Business Intensive Workshop
- Thabo Malefane – Sync Money Academy: Empowering SA Music Creators
The programme aims to improve access to industry knowledge and professional skills while supporting emerging talent and encouraging greater economic participation in the music sector.
The CSI programme operates independently of CAPASSO's day-to-day operations and is overseen by an independent CSI Committee comprising industry leaders. The committee reviews applications and selects recipients.
Funding calls are issued annually, subject to available resources, with application opportunities announced through CAPASSO's official platforms.
CAPASSO was established to represent rights holders and strengthen the administration and licensing of music rights, with a particular focus on mechanical rights. The organisation works with industry stakeholders to support the recognition and protection of African music rights internationally.
