The record is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms. It is nothing short of a mash-up banger of gqom and hip hop that creates a fresh and unique blend served by an all-star roster of Durban natives.
“The fusion is a dope thing and we are so happy to be doing it,” Blxckie said. “It’s creating a unique sound that is going to be amazing too when performed on a live stage.”
The single is the latest in a creative journey undertaken by DJ Lag over more than a decade, since he began pioneering a sound that would come to be known as gqom. Expanding out of his base in Clermont, Durban, DJ Lag has lived up to his international pantsula moniker through a career that’s as global as it is domestic.
DJ Lag began his career with the release of his first EP on WhatsApp and has gone on to earn huge acclaim for his contribution to the success of the gqom genre. His track ‘My Power’ – on which he collaborated with Tierra Whack, Moonchild Sanelly, Nija, Yemi Alade and Busiswa – was featured on Beyoncé’s album multi-award-winning The Lion King: The Gift.
