SA: DJ Zinhle releases self-titled Afro-house EP

The release marks her latest body of work and follows the success of the singles ‘Baba Yilwa’ and ‘Njengemali’, which were released ahead of the EP.

According to DJ Zinhle, the project revisits the sound that first established her career while reflecting her artistic development.

“This project is deeply personal because it represents who I am at my core,” she said. “ZINHLE is about returning to the music that made people fall in love with my sound while embracing everything I've learned along the way. I wanted to create a body of work that feels joyful, uplifting and timeless, music that brings people together, whether they're on a dancefloor, in the car, or celebrating life's moments.”

The EP features collaborations with DJ Lace, DJ Cliad, Funk Tone, Thobani White, Msindo’Listo, Nayvee Womculo and Nia Pearl.

Its focus track, ‘Uthando’, features Thobani White and Nayvee Womculo. The song combines Afro-house rhythms with melodic production and vocal performances centred on themes of love and togetherness.

The project follows the commercial performance of ‘Baba Yilwa’, which, according to the artist's team, spent 11 weeks on South African radio charts, accumulated 11 million streams across digital platforms and attracted more than 4.3 million views for its official music video on YouTube.

DJ Zinhle, who has been active in the South African music industry for nearly two decades, is regarded as one of the country's leading dance music producers and DJs. Her latest release continues her focus on Afro-house while bringing together established and emerging collaborators.
