South African rapper Blxckie has released a new track titled ‘South’ as part of Sprite’s global music initiative, Sprite Limelight.
This third season of the campaign features Blxckie collaborating with Grammy-nominated producer Take a Daytrip, who created the track’s concept.
Sprite Limelight brings together a diverse group of international artists. Blxckie joins a line-up that includes Young Miko (Puerto Rico), Fireboy DML (Nigeria), XAMÃ (Brazil), Lay Zhang (China), Doechii (US), and Mahalia (UK). Each artist was given full creative control to tweak the hook and adapt it to their personal style, to express how they stay cool amid life’s challenges.
‘South’ highlights Blxckie’s signature style, addressing how he deals with adversity and crafting catchy, reflective hooks. The music video for the track showcases his journey, featuring footage from his rise in the music scene.
The new release follows the success of his major-label debut EP see u soon and comes after his nomination for Best International Flow at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards. In addition to the new track, Blxckie has announced his first-ever headline US tour. The see u soon tour will be a three-date series, kicking off in Los Angeles on 24 November, followed by stops in Brooklyn on 26 November and Toronto on 27 November.
Fans can stream and download ‘South’ here.
