South African Afro-pop artist Zee Nxumalo has released a new single titled ‘Sobabili’.
The song is the lead track ahead of her upcoming project, KwaNxumalo (Deluxe), set for release on 10 February.
Zee Nxumalo burst onto the music scene last year following the release of successful singles ‘Siyajola’, ‘Hamba’ and ‘Pholile’.
“Last year was my first year as a professional artist and it’s been such a fun and eye-opening journey so far,” Zee Nxumalo said. “I finally feel like I’m finding my feet and figuring things out in the music industry now.
“My team told me that the previous project is sitting at 250 000 streams and I’m looking forward to seeing how we can go even harder this time around. ‘Sobabili’ is just me having fun and enjoying myself again, and that’s what we’re going to be doing all year.”
The track features amapiano pioneers MFR Souls and Profound.
Zee Nxumalo grew up in the Alexandra township in Johannesburg. She started doing cover songs on social media but when her posts went viral, she knew she was on to bigger things. Last year she joined forces with independent record label Punchline Media to officially launch her solo career. She draws inspiration from Kelly Khumalo, The Soil and the late Brenda Fassie.
