SA: Major Keys releases 17-track amapiano album Redemption

The album explores themes of resilience, personal growth, gratitude and self-belief, drawing on Major Keys’ experiences and challenges throughout his career. The project combines soulful melodies and collaborative performances with the log-driven rhythms associated with his production style.

For Major Keys, who was born in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, Redemption reflects a period of perseverance and personal reflection.

“The journey to Redemption hasn't been easy,” Major Keys said. “There were long nights, moments of doubt, and setbacks that felt like they might stop the music entirely. But looking back, I realise every single step, every failure and every lesson, was absolutely necessary to get here. This album is a testament to resilience and the refusal to quit. It's my comeback, my sound, and my truth. Thank you for staying down with me through it all. The wait is finally over.”

The album’s focus track, ‘Manje Clean’, features Cowboii and Yuppe and combines log drums, polished production and vocal performances in a dance-oriented track that reflects the celebratory mood of the wider project.

Major Keys has built a profile in the amapiano scene through tracks including ‘Forever Yena’, ‘Cina’, ‘Umona’, ‘ISGQOKO’ and ‘Impilo Inzima’. On Redemption, he builds on his previous work while exploring a more personal perspective and demonstrating his continued development as a producer.

Across the album, collaborations and soulful melodies are set against amapiano’s rhythmic foundations, with the project presenting resilience as a recurring theme in Major Keys' artistic journey.

Redemption is available on streaming platforms.
