SA: Manu WorldStar features Sjava, Anatii and Rouge on debut album

The full 12 track album is set for release on 4 September.

Other featured artists on the album include Gemini Major, Rowlene, Mariechan, Aubrey Qwana, Focalistic, Roberto and $pacely.

Molimo comes off the successful release of lead single ‘Nalingi’, which went Gold in August last year. The single is still a regular feature on the Top 100 Radiomonitor Chart. Some of the featured songs include ‘Choko’, ‘Celebrate’, ‘Molimo’, ‘Wonderlust’, ‘I Choose You’, ‘Mmagwane’, and ‘Pressure’.

“Molimo means ‘my spirit’ in my mother tongue Lingala,” Manu WorldStar said. “I chose this name because I felt this body of work defines and reflects the deepest desires and thoughts that come not from my mind, but from my spirit. I want ‘Choko’ to feed everyone’s souls just like how it fed mine.”

The Vth Season co-founder Raphael Benza, produced and did the A&R for Molimo said: “The project is an eclectic modern African sound of East, West, Central and Southern African music and voices. It’s a true mix of popular Afrobeats."

Born Emmanuel Mutendji in Johannesburg to Congolese parents, Manu WorldStar is an artist with a wide-ranging musical sounds. Although hip hop is his genre of choice, Manu WorldStar’s versatility has seen him delve successfully in Afropop as well R&B.

In 2019, he released a five-track EP titled Young African Story, which marked his arrival into the industry. Some of the songs on the EP include: 'Rent', 'Sheba' and 'Future Plan', which did well on local chats.
