The third annual Blood Brothers concert will take place at Good Luck Bar in Johannesburg on 30 September to create awareness around cancer.
During the one night only event, 10 of South Africa’s most prominent rock musicians will be performing to support the Vrede Foundation, a non-profit organisation that educates and provides funds to young people affected by cancer.
The concert will strive to create awareness about the prevalence of cancer among the youth as well as the methods of early detection and prevention. A study published in the medical journal Lancet last year ranked South Africa 50th in the world when it comes to incidences of cancer.
This year’s line-up includes artist who have previously performed as a part of the Blood Brothers supergroup. They include Francois van Coke (Fokofpolisiekar), Albert Frost (Blues Broers), Kobus de Kock Jnr (Black Cat Bones) and Jason Hinch (ex-Black Cat Bones).
With six new artists included on the line-up, fans can also expect to be entertained by the likes of Garth Barnes (Crashcrumb and ex-Tweak), Hanu de Jong (The Narrow), Chris van der Walt (Black Cat Bones), Jaco Mans (Die See and ex-Tidal Waves), Jason Oosthuizen (Van Coke Kartel) and Loandi Boersma (Cortina Whiplash).
With the exception of Arno Carstens (Springbok Nude Girls), who was replaced by Zolani Mahola (Freshleyground) last year, the 2016 Blood Brothers concert included George van der Spuy (Taxi Violence), Hunter Kennedy (Fokofpolisiekar), Rian Zietsman (Taxi Violence), Jason Hinch (Boargazm), Isaac Klawansky (Shadowclub) and Loedi van Renen (Taxi Violence).
