South African electronic ticketing provider TicketPro, in partnership with Trust Blu Foundation, has launched a platform for musicians, comedians and various other artists to stream their shows online.
The COVID-Zero platform will donate tickets to artists and fund community care packages. The people behind the platform say they want to support South African creatives while entertaining people in their homes based on their preferences.
“Against the backdrop of a devastating pandemic, we are determined to provide entertainment for South Africans, while also giving a much-needed boost to our entertainers and to communities in need,” TicketPro managing director Brandon Duffield said. “From music to comedy acts, we’re inviting audiences to tell us what they want to see on their screens.”
COVID-Zero also aims to provide communities across the country with care packages such as masks, hand sanitisers and food vouchers. The first 5 000 care packages have already been dispersed by the Trust Blu Foundation.
The inaugural COVID-Zero virtual event will begin with a performance by South African artist Ryan Murgatroyd on 8 May at 6pm. To watch the performance, fans can log in here, buy tickets and donate to entertainers and communities around South Africa.
