SA: Tyla revives Liquideep classic ‘Fairytale’ on new album

Originally released by the award-winning duo Liquideep, ‘Fairytale’ became one of the defining tracks of South Africa's soulful house movement. The song helped establish the group as a leading force in the country's dance music scene and has remained popular more than a decade after its release.

The new version introduces the track to a younger generation at a time when African music continues to expand its international reach.

Liquideep member Ziyon said the group had not anticipated the song’s lasting impact when it was first written.

According to the release, Tyla acknowledged Liquideep’s contribution to African music during a listening session for APOP in Portugal, crediting the duo with influencing her own musical journey.
