SA: Yo MTV Raps Uncapped show returns

The popular TV show will be broadcast every Wednesday on MTV Base (DStv channel 130) at 4.30pm CAT. Yo MTV Raps Uncapped marked its return with MTV Base Culture Squad member Tshego Koke as the host and featured South African rapper 25K, who in June signed a Sony Music Entertainment Africa recording deal that coincided with the release of his ‘Pheli Makaveli’ single.

“We are really pushing the culture forward this season and our format is more interactive as we get real with the people behind the hits we love through exclusive interviews,” Koke said. “The industry keeps evolving and our refreshed format is reflective of that evolution.”

During his interview with Koke, 25K touched on the inspiration behind his music, how he felt about collaborating with A Reece and the influence of amapiano on hip hop culture.

ViacomCBS Networks Africa senior vice-president and general manager Monde Twala said: “MTV Base is the home of youth entertainment and this refreshed new season is a great showcase of our continued investment in content for the culture by the culture. We will continue to give a platform for local talent to shine and elevate their unique sounds and artistry to a pan-African audience.”

Yo MTV Raps Uncapped will also feature music videos and special guest appearances by various rappers who will go head to head with Koke on a selection of their favourite jams.
