SA: Zakes Bantwini debuts on Anjunadeep with Sun-El Musician collaboration

The release brings together several South African artists and producers, with ‘Impatient’ featuring fellow South African artist Sun-El Musician and vocals from emerging artist kisskisskiss. ‘You Never Know’ features South African-born, London-based producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jordan Arts.

Bantwini has been active in South Africa's electronic and Afro house scene for more than two decades. He won the GRAMMY for Best Global Music Performance in 2023 for ‘Bayethe’, a collaboration with Nomcebo Zikode and Wouter Kellerman.

His catalogue includes ‘Osama’, his collaboration with Kasango, which has surpassed 60 million streams across platforms and spent 14 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on South African radio.

Bantwini has continued to expand his activities in 2026, including the launch of the Zakes Bantwini Foundation and performances in New York, Bali and South Africa through his Mayonie Productions brand.

‘Impatient’ reunites Bantwini with Sun-El Musician, whose catalogue includes the widely known ‘Akanamali’ and several RiSA-certified multi-platinum releases. Sun-El Musician also recently headlined the Red Bull Symphonic South Africa performance at Johannesburg's Montecasino Outdoor Events Area.

The second track, ‘You Never Know’, features Arts, who has received support from international electronic music artists including David Guetta, Paul van Dyk and Lane 8. He has also performed at events including Ultra South Africa and Durban's Anywhere In Your City festival.

The release marks Bantwini’s latest move into international electronic music spaces while bringing together established and emerging South African talent.
