saveHXPE releases HANDOUT (Remix) ft. Freddie Gibbs

Released on 17 April, the track is positioned within the emerging African trap sound and is built around minimal production, characterised by sharp hi-hat patterns and heavy 808 bass lines. The instrumental is structured around a repetitive loop, allowing the vocals to remain at the centre of the record.

The song focuses on themes of survival and self-reliance, with saveHXPE addressing the tension between genuine need and dependency.

“It’s about that line between actually needing help and just looking for a handout,” he said. “The message is simple, go out and build something for yourself first before you ever ask another man for a hand.”

He said the track draws from a difficult period in his life while living in Lesotho, where he experienced financial hardship and personal instability.

“I’m taking it back to when I was in Lesotho, broke as hell, and everything was falling apart,” he said.

saveHXPE added that the song was created without a structured concept, emerging instead from a spontaneous writing process.

“I didn’t overthink this. I was just in a mood, flowing, talking straight from the chest. It’s just pure, unfiltered experience,” he said.

Freddie Gibbs’ contribution adds an additional layer to the track, extending its thematic focus on resilience and lived experience across different contexts.

The release marks a shift in saveHXPE’s approach, moving from more introspective and melodic work towards material that is more direct in its messaging and grounded in personal narrative.

He is currently preparing a music video for the single, with further releases expected, although details remain undisclosed.
