Shakira, Burna Boy to debut FIFA World Cup 2026 song

FIFA announced that the performance will form part of the opening celebrations ahead of the first match of the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States.

The ceremony will take place at Mexico City Stadium and is scheduled to begin 90 minutes before kick-off. FIFA said the event will feature a range of international artists performing music from the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album.

The line-up includes Tyla, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules and Maná, alongside Burna Boy and Shakira.

According to FIFA, spectators attending the opening match will be encouraged to participate in elements of the ceremony. Stadium gates are expected to open four hours before kick-off, with entertainment and fan engagement activities planned ahead of the match.

The opening event in Mexico will be followed by additional opening ceremonies in Canada and the United States as part of the expanded tournament, with further performers expected to be announced at a later date.

Dai Dai has been designated as the official song supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative that aims to raise US$100 million by the end of the tournament to expand access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide.

FIFA has also confirmed that Shakira will co-headline the FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show, which is scheduled to take place on 19 July.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to attract a global audience of billions, making it one of the largest sporting events in the world.
