Songtradr offering free music distribution until September
20 Apr 2020 - 10:08
US-based music licensing marketplace Songtradr recently announced that it is offering artists free music distribution on its platform until 30 September.
Through Starter, the company’s free subscription service tier, artists will be offered unlimited uploads for each release while still retaining 100% of the distribution royalties and full control of their music rights.
Songtradr says it is crucial to assist affected artists in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“This moment in time provides a unique opportunity to be part of a global consciousness shift,” Soundtradr founder and CEO Paul Wiltshire said. “To participate in a world that gives unconditionally, and supports one another so that we can arrive at a better destination on the other side of this.”
Songtradr specialises in music licensing for film and TV, and works with major companies such as Apple, Coca-Cola, Disney and Netflix for ads, among other content.
The licensing platform boasts more than 400 000 artists in about 190 countries around the world.
The free deal will let users distribute their music worldwide on a number of platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer.
After 30 September, users can choose to become a paid subscriber maintaining the same benefits for $19 a year, or remain a free user receiving 90% of their royalties.
The offer could benefit independent artists who plan to release new music from now through to September. More information on the free deal can be found here.
Meanwhile, SoundCloud has also introduced a new distribution and marketing platform that lets indie musicians distribute their songs through 25 major services.
