Splice unveils new Creator plans

The plans build on the company’s Sounds+ $10-per-month subscription, and they include access to Splice's library of soundpacks and samples as well as credits to use in the store. The Creator and Creator+ plans will set users back $20 and $30, respectively, with the former tier offering subscribers 200 sound credits and the latter 500.

Additionally, Splice has introduced a pair of virtual instruments called Astra and Beatmaker as well as a collection of educational videos called Skills. The plans also include the new Splice Bridge plugin.

Astra is a deep virtual synth with options for virtual analogue, two oscillators and granular and sample playback, among other tools. Beatmaker comes preloaded with a stack of drum kits centred around classic drum machines and genres like pop and trap. Users can also have the option to play their own samples. Skills, meanwhile, offers lessons on mixing technique, processing vocals and sample flipping. The lessons include instructional material such as project files for Ableton and samples to manipulate.

The launch follows Splice’s $55m Series D funding round in February, which valued the company at $500m. The move adds to Splice’s offering beyond a sample store and could see it become a more comprehensive music-making ecosystem in the future.
