Tanzania’s Mbosso releases Khan EP
Tanzanian singer and songwriter Mbosso has released his debut EP titled Khan. The project, released by WCB Wasafi, is available for streaming and download on all major platforms.
The six-track bongo flava offering is fused with Afrobeats, amapiano, zouk as well as Indian and Arabic music influences. It features collaborations with WCB label boss Diamond Platnumz on ‘Yataniua’, South Africa’s Alfa Kat and Costa Titch on ‘Shetani’, and the DRC’s Ya Levis on ‘Wayo’. The other tracks are ‘Huyu Hapa’, ‘Pole’ ft. Ruby and ‘Assalaam’ ft. Mohammed Almanji.
As expected, the new collection offers listeners a taste of Mbosso’s fine songwriting skills that have cemented his brand as ‘the King of Swahili Love Music’, with romance, as in most of his discography, a dominant theme.
Mbosso is one of WCB Wasafi’s most successful artists. His deeply romantic songs and use of Bollywood cinematography in his videos have earned the artist a huge following.
Khan follows his 2021 debut album Definition of Love, which is lauded for its flawless vocals and immersive lyrics.
Born Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi in Dar es Salaam, Mbosso was part of a popular boy group Yamoto Band before signing to WCB Wasafi in 2017.
His hits include ‘Hodari’, ‘Baikoko’, ‘Nadekezwa’, ‘Tamu’ and ‘Tamba’, all of which have accumulated more than 40 million views on YouTube.
Since releasing his debut single ‘Watakubali’ on Wasafi, Mbosso has gained popularity not only in East Africa but also in the Middle East and India. This, perhaps, explains the reason he has taken up the moniker ‘Mbosso Khan’.
