Cape Town's Tasché Burger was crowned the winner of Season 3 of The Voice SA at Mosaïek Teatro in Johannesburg at the weekend.
Burger made history on Sunday by becoming the first woman and the youngest person to to win The Voice SA. Burger received nearly 10 million votes from fans across the country.
Besides winning The Voice SA 2019 title, Burger will also receive a record deal with Universal Music South Africa, Toyota RAV4 and clothing vouchers worth R100 000 ($7 000), among other prizes.
“I’ve been singing my whole life,” she told local media. “For my gap year I’ve been waitressing and I just decided to go for The Voice. I want to do one more shift, at least one more, to end it off. But I’ll be doing music full time now.”
Burger's coach, rocker Francois van Coke, took to social media to congratulate the 19-year-old artist.
"Tasché, my spirit animal, I am so proud of you. I am so happy that you won. I am the happiest man in the world right now, amazing,” he said.
