Tash Shah joins TuneCore as VP after 12-year stint at Spotify
03 Aug 2023 - 13:31
UK-based music executive Tash Shah has joined independent digital music distribution, publishing and licensing company TuneCore after a 12-year stint at Spotify.
The announcement was made this week. At TuneCore, Shah will serve as vice-president, international, as she takes over from Faryal Khan-Thompson, who last month headed over to Downtown-owned DIY distributor CD Baby as senior vice-president of marketing and community engagement.
Confirming the move on social media, Tash Shah expressed her gratitude to Spotify founder Daniel Ek for creating what she described as “just about the coolest thing” she could ever have imagined. She also thanked TuneCore CEO Andreea Gleeson and parent company Believe for her new role.
“I’m so looking forward to supporting artists at every stage, and growing their world and ours, together,” she said.
Throughout her career at Spotify, Shah served in various capacities, including director for growth programmes, global head of student premium and head of consumer marketing for the UK and Netherlands.
Before she moved to Spotify, she was marketing manager at UK-based internet service provider Easynet Connect.
Earlier this week, Believe and TuneCore published the AI in Music Report, which seeks to assess the adoption and perception of artificial intelligence within the independent music community.
Spotify, meanwhile, is implementing a second round of job cuts this year, impacting about 2% of its workforce, or approximately 200 employees, following an earlier round in January that affected about 6% of the global workforce, equivalent to some 600 employees.
