One Africa Music Fest, the international concert featuring African stars, will be heading to the UK on 13 May.
The first edition featured Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Diamond Platnumz, Jidenna and others. It was hosted by the R&B artist Banky W at the Barclays Centre, New York. The second edition, held in Houston, featured rapper Olamide, highlife man Flavour, and Skales among others. ‘Unleash the Dragon’ singer Sisqo performed on the night.
The May 2017 edition is the third and will feature Nigerian acts Tekno and P-Square. Both artists were featured in the second edition of the concert.
Both have also enjoyed hits in recent times. While P-Square released ‘Bank Alert’ and enjoyed a resurgence of sorts after personal problems between the brothers, Tekno’s ‘Pana’ and ‘Diana’ saw the artist become one of a few Nigerian pop artists to have a great 2016. His new single ‘Rara’ has become a fan favourite.
Tekno also got signed by the global label Sony Music, following Davido’s contract with same label. The worth of his contract has been put at 4 million dollars. And in December, he was named by Billboard as one of 10 Hip-Hop and R&B Artists to Watch In 2017.
The One Africa Music Fest concert is organised by the management outfit Upfront and Personal Global.
