Three artists of the decade

He is one of the top artists in Nigeria, with a career spanning about two decades starting out with the group Plantation Boyz in the late 1990s, the artist formally called Tuface has had a successful solo career after the group was disbanded. Starting from his first album Face 2 Face in 2004, he has eight albums to his credit, several singles and collaborations in and outside Nigeria. 2Baba, a multiple award-winning star won the Legendary Award at the 2019 AFRIMAs, recognition of individuals who have impacted positively on the world using their craft in the music, arts and culture industry.

Dbanj

The London returnee acts that graced the Nigerian music scene in the mid-2000s, shot to fame with his debut album No Long Thing in 2005, it came with catchy songs such as ‘Mobolowowon’, ‘Tongolo’, ‘Socor’, that got Nigerians dancing. The harmonica introduced to his sound was something of a phenomenon with fans, a momentum that he took into the last decade that made him a household name in Nigeria and around Africa. His 2012 single, Oliver Twist was a worldwide hit made it to number nine on the UK Singles Chart. Real name, Oladapo Oyebanjo won nominations and awards including the MOBO Awards, MTV Africa and Europe Music Awards, BET Awards and many more.

Wizkid

The child star who is never fading. His first single Holler at your Boy released in 2009 shot him to instant stardom at the age of 16. For Wizkid, it has been a ride all the way to the top. In 2016, he achieved international recognition on his collaboration with the US/Canadian rapper, Drake on the global hit ‘One Dance’. His collaborations with other artists in Africa and beyond is impressive, it includes; Beyonce, R2bees, Tiwa Savage, Skepta and many others.

The Afropop singer sold out the Starboy Fest event at the O2 arena in London in October, a feat he has achieved on two separate occasions.

He recently bagged BET Soul Train Awards for his contributions to Beyoncé's hit song ‘Brown Skin Girl.’
