TuneCore launches exclusive YouTube Music education hub

YouTube Music is available in several African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Uganda, Libya and Morocco.

Tunecore's new hub provides comprehensive resources to prepare artists for their release day, including strategies for pre-release, release day, and post-release activities.

Additionally, it features optimisation techniques to maximize performance, such as utilising YouTube Shorts, understanding analytics, building an optimal audience connection (OAC), and growing artists’ audiences effectively.

This initiative complements other recent TuneCore efforts, such as the AI-powered TuneCore Mastering, introduced in June and, according to TuneCore CEO Andreea Gleeson, continues her outfit's mission to support artists in making better music and thriving in a fairer music industry.

The latest TuneCore Accelerator Report, released earlier this month highlights a 91% increase in streaming growth in West and East Africa, with over 3 billion track discoveries and nearly 10 billion new streams facilitated in the first half of 2024, as more than 250 000 independent artists have joined the accelerator and around 85 000 tracks selected for audience-development programmes.

Meanwhile, YouTube is rolling out exciting updates, including a new mini-player on Android and iOS that allows for resizing and repositioning of videos, a Sleep Timer, as well as a slider for fine-tuning playback speed. Users can also create custom thumbnails for playlists, collaborate with friends on playlists, and vote on video rankings. Additionally, new badges will reward users for achieving milestones on the platform.
