NEFCISA

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. Promote South African creativity at both provincial and national levels Foster community development through social contribution.

Music In Africa Gender @ Work is a three-year training programme aimed at upskilling and increasing the participation of female professionals in the African music sector. Launched by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) in April 2019, the programme is connected to the MIAF’s ACCES music conference – a pan-African event held in a different African country every year. This connection enables the programme to reach new participants in a different African country every year. The programme marks the beginning of a more concerted effort by the Foundation to support the participation and inclusion of women in all facets of its programmes and the music sector in Africa as a whole. For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

South African singer and songwriter Tyla has announced dates in Cape Town and Johannesburg as part of her upcoming A*POP World Tour, supporting her second studio album, A*POP, released on 24 July via FAX and Epic Records.

Tyla.

The 34-date global tour will begin in Paris on 12 October before travelling through Europe and the UK, with scheduled stops in cities including Amsterdam, London, Brussels and Stockholm. The North American leg will start on 12 November at Hard Rock Live in Wheatland, California, and include performances in Vancouver, Chicago, Boston, Brooklyn and San Diego before concluding in Las Vegas on 19 December.

Tyla will then perform in Africa, with a date in Lagos planned for December, although the venue has yet to be announced. The tour will continue to South Africa for two concerts: at Green Point Track in Cape Town on 4 January 2027 and at the Expo Centre in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on 9 January. The South African dates are being presented by Showtime Management and Anything Goes.

The tour marks Tyla’s first full headline tour across North America, Europe, the UK and Africa. It follows her 2025 We Wanna Party Tour, which included sold-out performances in Japan, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa.

The tour announcement comes shortly after the release of A*POP, a 14-track album featuring singles including ‘CHANEL’, ‘IS IT’, ‘SHE DID IT AGAIN’ and ‘IS IT LOVE’.

Tyla has also maintained a busy international performance schedule around the album's release. On 24 July, she performed at Rockefeller Plaza as part of The Today Show's Citi Summerstage, where she performed ‘WATER’, ‘IS IT LOVE’, ‘THAT GIRL’ and ‘CHANEL’. She also spoke to the programme’s hosts about the album and its global rollout.

Earlier, she performed during the halftime show at the 2026 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game in Chicago, delivering performances of ‘CHANEL’, ‘WATER’ and ‘SHE DID IT AGAIN’. The appearance made her the first international artist to headline the WNBA All-Star Game halftime show in its 30-year history.

Tyla has also partnered with Vevo for an Official Live Performance of ‘IS IT LOVE’, while the Vevo music video for ‘SHE DID IT AGAIN’, featuring Swedish singer Zara Larsson, has also been released.

Tickets for the South African shows will go on sale through an artist pre-sale on 29 July at 10am local time, followed by the general sale on 31 July at 10am. The concerts are open to audiences aged six and above, although children cannot attend without an accompanying adult.

The South African dates will mark Tyla’s return home following the international expansion of her career, bringing the A*POP era to audiences in the country where her global rise began.
