Along with her hit song ‘Water’, which continues to climb the charts and reached No 3 on the Local Top 100 and No 5 on the International Top 200 in its 30th week, Tyla’s other tracks are also gaining traction.
‘Art’, which has been praised for its unique “popiano” sound, a blend of South African amapiano beats with pop and R&B tempos, debuted at No 6 on the local chart and No 11 on the international chart.
‘Truth or Dare’ jumped 11 spots on the international chart to No 15 and eight places locally to No 9 this week.
Her infectious song ‘Jump’ single, featuring Jamaican dancehall artist Skillibeng and US rapper Gunna, has also debuted at No 11 on the local chart and No 18 on the international chart. The song, a vibrant blend of Afrobeats, dancehall, and hip hop, is primed to be a party anthem.
Tyla’s music offers an innovative take on pop, R&B amapiano and Afrobeats. She began showing an interest in music at the age of 12 and started singing more seriously in high school. She is signed to Epic Records through a joint venture with Johannesburg-New York-based Fax Records, and is co-managed by We Make Music and Africa Creative Agency
