Ugandan singer Spice Diana has been named brand ambassador of Chinese soft drink and bottled water producer Yaket International in an advertising deal reported at 93.3 million Ugandan shillings ($25 000).
Spice Diana made public the association with the company yesterday via her Facebook page.
“I am glad to have added another milestone today,” she wrote. “I am pleased to be associated with Yaket International Ltd. I have been trusted to be Yaket International Ltd's brand ambassador for the next one year. Let us sail together on this journey. I appreciate all the love and support”
The singer told Music In Africa that the new arrangement would see her become the face of Yaket International for various ad campaigns that would aim to introduce the company’s products to the Ugandan market.
“The company will be unveiled latest next month,” she said. “The deal allows them to use my pictures on their bottles and any other type of advertisement such as campaign fliers and billboards. My contract is for nine months after which we will have to sit down and renegotiate the terms.”
Spice Diana, who according to Ugandan TV presenter Douglas Lwanga is among the most sought after female musicians in Uganda, said the deal would boost her personal brand and further her music career.
“This endorsement will most certainly increase my popularity in Uganda,” she said. “I will be on billboards all over. I am used to doing short-term contracts but this is the longest and most rewarding deal I have ever signed.”
Spice Diana said she would look at signing a separate contract that would give the company exclusive rights to sell its products at the singer's concerts.
The singer’s endorsement comes just two months after she and her manager, Rodger Lubega, opened a recording studio in Makindye, Kampala.
“I am in studio recording more songs and shooting music videos, which will all be released once the holy month of Ramadhan comes to an end,” Spice Diana said.
