Uganda’s Zzina Awards unveils nominees

Artists will be nominated in 17 categories. Radio and Weasel lead the pack with eight nominations.They are closely followed by Bobi Wine, who has a total of six nominations. A Pass and Irene Ntale each have five nominations, while Sheeba and Juliana Kanyomozi have four nominations apiece.

In the Male Artist of the Year category, David Lutalo - who was named Artist of the Year as well as Male Artist of the Year at the recent HiPipo Awards - will seek to outshine the likes of Ziza Bafana, A Pass, Bobi Wine, Eddy Kenzo, King Saha and Radio and Weasel. Meanwhile, Sheeba will face off close rivals Irene Ntale, Juliana Kanyomozi, Cindy, Fille, and Rema Namakula for Female Artist of the Year.

Besides music, the awards will also recognizing comedians and personalities of the year.

The winner of the Fans Team category are expected to receive a bull at the awards ceremony, scheduled for Friday 4 March at Theatre Labonita in Kampala.
