03 Apr 2017 - 12:07
This Easter, Tanzanian sensation Vanessa Mdee and Kenya’s top boy band Sauti Sol are headed to Nigeria to headline the fourth edition of the Gidi Culture Festival. The festival takes place on Saturday 15 April at Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island in Lagos from 12pm.
The MTV award winners for best group in Africa will be making their debut at Gidi Fest with Mdee returning for a second time.
“We are excited to be playing at Gidi Fest," Sauti Sol's Chimano said. "This will also be our first major performance in Nigeria. We’re calling all our fans to come enjoy the best live music in Africa and get a taste of the best of Kenyan culture while at it”.
Vee Money, as Mdee is popularly known, said she was excited to be joined by Sauti Sol alongside other artists, and that she had lots of new content to share.
The music festival is a platform intended to connect the best of African music and entertainment with global talent by promoting African entertainment, music and cultural diplomacy.
Festival co-founder Chin Okeke is elated to have East African music well represented at the festival this year. He said that in a bid to take Gidi Fest to the rest of Africa and the world, they would be producing exclusive content for a festival film set to launch later in the year.
Other artists who will perform at the festival are American Grammy winner Diplo of Major Lazer and Nigerians Davido, Seyi Shay, Reekado Banks, Simi, DJ Obi and DJ Neptune.
Tickets are on sale at www.gidiculturefestival.com for 10 000 Naira ($32.60) and N2 500 for the VIP and regular sections respectively.
