The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. Promote South African creativity at both provincial and national levels Foster community development through social contribution.

Music In Africa Gender @ Work is a three-year training programme aimed at upskilling and increasing the participation of female professionals in the African music sector. Launched by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) in April 2019, the programme is connected to the MIAF’s ACCES music conference – a pan-African event held in a different African country every year. This connection enables the programme to reach new participants in a different African country every year. The programme marks the beginning of a more concerted effort by the Foundation to support the participation and inclusion of women in all facets of its programmes and the music sector in Africa as a whole. For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

Visa has appointed Congolese music artist Fally Ipupa as the brand ambassador for Visa Pay in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as the payments company seeks to expand the use of digital payments in the country.

The partnership was announced at a media event in Kinshasa on 21 September. It forms part of Visa’s efforts to promote digital payments and financial inclusion in the DRC, where the Central Bank is pursuing a shift towards a cashless economy.

Under the partnership, Ipupa will promote Visa Pay through consumer campaigns, digital content, public appearances and community engagement initiatives.

“Mr Fally Ipupa embodies innovation, ambition and progress, values that are deeply aligned with Visa’s mission to uplift everyone, everywhere by being the best way to pay and be paid,” Visa DRC managing director Sophie Kafuti said.

Kafuti added that the partnership would also strengthen Visa’s engagement with the African creative economy.

“His influence extends beyond music. He connects generations, uplifts communities and audiences across Africa and the diaspora. This partnership is rooted not only in his reach, but also in our shared belief that creativity and technology can open new opportunities.”

Ipupa said he saw similarities between the role of music in connecting people and the potential of digital technology to expand access to opportunities.

“Music has always been about bringing people together, creating opportunities and inspiring people to dream bigger. I see the same potential in digital innovation. I am proud to partner with Visa Pay and I hope to encourage more Congolese consumers to embrace the digital economy, connect to new opportunities and participate in the future with confidence.”

Visa Pay was launched in the DRC in September 2025. The interoperable payments and e-commerce platform allows users to make and receive payments and transfer money through a mobile application available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, as well as through the mobile applications of participating banks, mobile operators and fintech companies.

The service is currently available through Access Bank, Sofibanque, Solidaire Banque and UBA. Customers of participating institutions can open an account and receive a digital Visa card through Visa Pay.

Trust Merchant Bank Pepele customers can access the service through the Pepele application, while other financial institutions are integrating the platform.

Visa Pay users can make online payments using their digital Visa cards and transfer money to other Visa Pay users using registered mobile numbers rather than bank account details.

The platform also supports contactless payments on eligible mobile devices, allowing users to pay at compatible terminals without carrying cash or a physical bank card.

The partnership with Ipupa comes as Visa seeks to increase awareness and adoption of digital payment services in the DRC while engaging with the country's music and wider creative industries.
