Visa For Music extends application deadline

From 11 to 14 November 2015, VFM is going to be held again in Rabat, Morocco. The deadline to apply for Visa For Music has recently been extended by one month to 15 May. Four calls have been sent out for this second editor of VFM: for artists, for DJs/VJs, for music film submissions, and for music video submissions. A total 24 artists (or bands), six music documentaries and 10 video clips will be chosen by special juries. The selection will be presented to over 1000 professionals from all over the world at VFM on 11-14 November. Artists from the diaspora are also encouraged to apply - the beauty of African music is not confined to the geographical continent! If you’re interested in attended and have not applied yet, don't hesitate and send in the completed form with all relevant documents before 15 May.

The Visa For Music team have been busy during 2015 so far, promoting the event at various international platforms. Visa For Music attended the annual Babel Med Music (World Music Forum) in Marseille, France from 26-28 March, where professionals and artists met the team and discussed the next edition. VFM also participated in the third edition of HUB Africa on 2-3 April in Casablanca, Morocco, as well as the Atlantic Music Expo in Praia, Cape Verde on 6-9 April, promoting trans-Atlantic cultural exchange. VFM was also promoted at an international workshop at the New York University of Abu Dhabi entitled 'Connected through heritage: Developing regional networks for Heritage and Museum Studies’ from 13-14 April, which offered an opportunity for reflections on cultural diversity and shared heritage.

As part of the Saison Culturelle France-Maroc, Visa For Music will be participating in the Afrique en scènes ! tour in May: five concerts (at the Instituts Français of Meknes, Kenitra, Casablanca, Safi and Agadir, all in Morocco) featuring four African artists: Mehdi Nassouli, Kandy Guira, Hindi Zahra and Songhoy Blues. Meanwhile, the Festival Arabesques in Montpellier, France will welcome from 12-14 May three artists specially selected by Visa For Music: Mashrou' Leila, N3rdistan and Driss el Maloumi. Two other Moroccan groups, Nass el Ghiwane and Hamid el Kasri, have also been invited to the festival.
