Warner Music Group (WMG) has announced that Carianne Marshall will leave her role as co-chair and chief operating officer of Warner Chappell Music (WCM), the company’s global music publishing division, at the end of September.

The company said Marshall’s departure is part of an effort to streamline WCM’s leadership structure.
From 1 October, WCM CEO Guy Moot will become the company’s sole chair. Marshall will remain with WMG until the end of 2026.
Marshall joined WCM in June 2018 and became Co-Chair alongside Moot in April 2019. During her tenure, she helped introduce WCM’s Creative Services department, which was established to expand commercial and creative opportunities for songwriters.
WMG CEO Robert Kyncl said Marshall had played an important role in the development of WCM.
“Carianne has been instrumental in building Warner Chappell into the successful company it is today. She’s helped drive exceptional results that have set our songwriters and our business up for long-lasting success,” Kyncl said.
“Our talented team will build upon the incredible foundation she’s put in place. We thank her for her dedication, impact and wish her the very best in her next chapter.”
Marshall said her work with Moot had focused on creating a songwriter-centred environment.
“When Guy and I began this journey together, we wanted to build a songwriter-first home for the creative community. Reflecting on our time, I am proudest not only of our growth, but of the incredible culture and values we’ve fostered together,” she said.
“I step away with immense gratitude for Len, Robert, Guy, the WMG Board, and our entire Warner Chappell team knowing that the company has never been better positioned for what’s next.”
Moot described Marshall as a strong advocate for WCM’s songwriters and employees.
“Carianne has been an extraordinary partner and a fierce champion for our songwriters and our people over the past seven years,” he said.
“Her vision, heart and drive helped us establish an operating foundation that sets Warner Chappell apart and shaped a winning global team. I am deeply grateful for our partnership and wish her every happiness.”
Before joining WCM, Marshall spent more than a decade at independent music publisher SONGS, where she joined in 2006 and served as Partner, Head of Creative Services and Head of Creative Licensing.
At SONGS, she helped develop a roster of more than 300 songwriters, including Lorde, The Weeknd, Diplo and DJ Mustard. She also led the company’s West Coast operations and oversaw creative licensing for film, television, advertising, video games and other visual media.
Marshall was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Warner Chappell Music in 2018. In 2019, she became Co-Chair alongside Moot, who was appointed CEO and Co-Chair.
