Yemi Alade has released a single featuring Rick Ross.
In the hours before the song's release, the Nigerian popstar teased her followers online with snippets from the video showing Rick Ross.
The video for the remix of 'Oh My Gosh', which was finally released in the early hours of 30 April, has already garnered more than 200 000 views on YouTube. The video for the original song has been viewed over 8 million times since it was uploaded to YouTube in September 2018.
In the new video, Yemi Alade is seen performing with Rick Ross, as they flirt with each other. Since its release, both artists have appeared on the Twitter Trending list, with tweets mentioning both or one of the artists generally positive. The video is also trending on YouTube.
This is the second time Rick Ross has appeared in a video with a major Nigeria-based pop artist. He appeared in the video for the remix to ‘Beautiful Onyinye’, a song about from P-Square’s 2011 album The Invasion.
Four years later, American rapper Meek Mill, who is signed to Rick Ross’s label Maybach Music Group, was featured by Davido in the video for ‘Fans Mi’. All of these songs have been well received by the Nigerian audience.
The new single is likely to be discussed as part of a wave that has seen the global pop music industry take elements from Nigerian pop. Watch the new video below:
