South African musician Zoë Modiga released on Friday a new single titled ‘Lengoma’ featuring Tubatsi Mpho Moloi.
The song is off Modiga's upcoming sophomore album, which is yet to be named. ‘Lengoma’ was co-produced by Modiga and Banda Banda, and was written by Modiga.
The song is available for streaming and download here.
“The music video is there to communicate a journey of healing that comes from one’s own manifestation and looking into oneself,” Modiga told Music In Africa. “We often look outside ourselves for answers.”
'Lengoma' explores traditional West and southern African influences paired with communal celebratory lyrics.
Commenting on the global COVID-19 crisis, she said: “I’d like my fellow Africans to stay calm and prayerful during this time. I’d like to encourage compliance with regard to staying indoors. I send all my love and hope. This song creates a world in everyone’s space to heal.
“This is a global pandemic that affects everyone and everything. I wish for those infected with the virus to be healed from it and everyone affected and quarantined to be filled with abounding peace of mind. This is not an easy time for many people.”
