Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Wizkid today released the deluxe edition of his album Made In Lagos, which is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
The update is released on Starboy/RCA, a year after the singer dropped the original version to critical acclaim. Made In Lagos: Deluxe Edition features four new songs, including ‘Anoti’, ‘Steady’, ‘Mood’ and the Justin Bieber-assisted ‘Essence’ remix, which was published last week.
“Thank u for letting me jump on the song of the summer,” Bieber said on Instagram to announce the remix.
The previous version of the track debuted at No 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July and hit No 54 in the week ending 14 August. In December, ‘Essence’ made it onto Barack Obama’s Spotify playlist.
Buju is the other new collaborator on the project and appears on ‘Mood’. He joins fellow Nigerian musicians Burna Boy, Terri, Tems and Tay Iwar, US singer H.E.R, the UK’s Skepta and Ella Mai, and Jamaican reggae star Damian Marley.
On 24 August, days before the release of the deluxe edition, Made In Lagos reached a new peak of No 58 on the Billboard 200 chart. The project also hit No 1 on Billboard’s World Music Album chart.
Made In Lagos: Deluxe Edition stresses the African roots of Wizkid’s sound while celebrating its interaction with other global sounds such as R&B, pop and reggae.
